What I want most for you
Apr 14, 2025
Assalaamu'alaykum,
Let’s face it, holding yourself accountable is no easy task.
When we take a look at ourselves, often our mirror is obscured.
There are smudges on the surface, helping to keep the parts of us that hide, still hidden.
There are parts of the mirror that are fractured, giving us a distorted view to uphold the faulty beliefs we carry.
And there are some areas we cover intentionally, blocking out the pain of dealing with what’s within.
Many of us journey through life with this obscured mirror, never quite finding the courage to take a long, honest look at ourselves.
Finding comfort in coasting and focusing outwardly rather than inwardly is an easy strategy to feel safe and comfortable.
Allowing us to avoid confronting our inner thoughts, emotions and challenges, which can be quite daunting.
We create a buffer that shields us from this introspection.
However, this approach limits our personal growth and self-awareness, as true understanding comes from looking within and addressing our internal landscapes
As I always say, the ability to truly see yourself is a gift from Allah.
Even though the temptation to look outwardly can be strong, especially in times of struggle, I’m grateful to Allah for every instance of self-knowledge revealed to me. I know these insights have spared me from many future heartaches and unnecessary suffering.
When the going gets tough, it's tempting to blame others.
However, as the saying goes, while one finger points outward, three fingers point back at yourself.
By excusing yourself from any contribution to the problem, the parts within you that lurk in the shadows get to remain hidden, freely continuing to stir, fuel, and perpetuate unhealthy behaviours.
When you live a life without checking in with yourself:
- You may repeatedly experience the same unhealthy patterns in life, often questioning why you find yourself in similar situations.
- People close to you may recognise your negative traits, yet you remain oblivious to them.
- There can be internal friction as a result of a disconnect between your mind, heart, and body.
- You might be at risk of committing repeated sins, both knowingly and unknowingly.
- You might believe your actions are driven by sincere intentions, but without rigorous self-examination, those intentions could be tainted with personal agendas.
A life that operates in "coast-mode" or "blame-mode" is often filled with pain, grievances, petty issues and repeated conflicts.
But! If you find the courage to pick up a mirror, take an honest look, and begin making changes within yourself as your first priority, then a number of wonderful things start to happen:
- Empowerment for Positive Change: You empower yourself to create positive changes in your life, taking control rather than feeling at the mercy of others.
- Earning Allah’s Pleasure and Help: By following Allah's command (Quran 13:11), you earn His pleasure and support in your journey.
- Moving Away from Ego-led Behaviours: You give yourself the opportunity to disengage from behaviours driven by ego, making soulful choices aligned with your higher self.
- Finding Inner Peace and Harmony: You can discover inner peace, harmony, and contentment by moving closer towards the best version of yourself.
- Adopting a Traveller’s Mindset: Embracing a mindset of a traveller, you become more aware of your journey, the ultimate destination, and the importance of scrutinising your own actions before they are scrutinised by Ar Raqeeb (The Watchful One).
I have experienced the profound liberation that comes from inner work, and I pray to continue on this path until my last breath, inshaAllah!
I want this journey for you as well.
With the experience of working with hundreds of clients and witnessing their personal and spiritual growth, Alhamdulilah, I feel driven to help more people avoid unnecessary suffering.
My goal is to help them hold up a clear mirror, allowing them to see their truths with fresh eyes and intentions.
Sometimes just one powerful conversation can completely change a perspective, leaving you feeling far more content and uplifted. By Allah’s mercy, I have seen this happen many times.

Dua of the Week
O Allah, enable me to see the truth as truth and give me the ability to follow it, and enable me to see the falsehood as false and give me the ability to refrain from it.
